Friday Sketch Challenge

Well...HELLO! Long time no see, lol. The last time I posted on here was just before the schools broke up for the summer. WOW! What a busy summer it's been. We had a wee break to Scarborough the first week in July and then we had lots of lovely days out (a few not so good as well, lol). And last weekend we went down Legoland Windsor for the day - fantastic. So, it's been busy, busy, busy.

Now though, we are back to reality and both boys are back at school. After a very long, tough year, we managed to secure a place in the schools Language Unit for Steven and he is doing brilliantly and even managing the full day now. So, since all is well for the time being, I thought I would make a wee card.

Colour Combo at CRAFT Challenge

At last, I am back with a card. If any of you have seen my mojo out there could you please send it home. It has taken me all week to make this card. Not that I started it a week ago but I started thinking about it a week ago and I couldn't for the life of me get any ideas.

Anyway, we have a new challenge over at CRAFT and this weeks theme is a Colour Combo and its this one right here...

(Some Bunny Loves Me)

AND

(if you need help getting started, there are some freebie papers with these
colours on Jo's card and on Jo's digistamp blog, but please leave a
comment if you take them and give credit where credit is due, there will
also be a related challenge at her blog if you use any of these papers)

So, this is my card and I didn't use the free papers because once again, my printer is being a royal pain in the ...!

Ingredients:
Image: Wee Stamps by Sylvia Zet (free in Papercraft Essentials magazine);
Medium: Promarkers;
Papers: Nitwit Collections and Tim Holtz Cardstock;
Sentiment: same as stamp set;
Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts;
Ribbon: Stash.

Challenges:
Sketch Saturday: Fab Sketch;
Papertake Weekly: Bingo (Ribbon, Free Square, Blooms).

Now that it's finally done, I actually quite like it. I am off to sort out my promarkers now, I got a few new ones from Polka Doodles the other day. Talk about a fantastic service... I ordered them on Sunday and I received them on Tuesday morning - and no postage costs either. They are really reasonably priced too.

PInk and Girly...But Not a Card

Thought you might like to see the cake I made for my mum to give to her friend at work. When I asked what the girl liked, mum said 'aw, make up - anything girly really'. So, I went for pink and girly.

An 8" round sponge cake with buttercream filling covered in light pink sugarpaste.  Make up bag, nail polish bottles, lipstick and hair straighteners to decorate all made from sugarpaste.

Hope you like it

Also, Steven was fitting a new blackout blind in the bedroom tonight...all in the hopes that Wee Steven will sleep a bit past 6am and I can get a bit of a lie in, lol.

GDT Card for CRAFT Challenge

Hello everyone. Hope you are all well, things seem to have been mad round here recently and I almost forgot to post this but, luckily I remembered just in time. I was asked to be guest designer for June by the girls over at Craft Challenge and of course, I jumped at the chance. Totally delighted! So here is my first card. And the theme for this week is

'A MALE CARD'

Ingredients:
Image: Humphreys Corner by Crafters Companion;
Medium: Promarkers;
Papers: Portobello Road 6x6.

Challenges:
One Stop Craft: Crowns or Diamonds AND Red, White & Blue;
Secret Crafter: Anything Goes;
Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes (optional extra - fathers day or male card);
Passion for Promarkers: Red, White and Blue.

 I have kept this one quite simple because I don't make a lot of male cards and thought I could keep it and add a sentiment or something when I need to use it.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the girls fab work.

Stroppy Beth

Hello everyone. I hope you are all well. I have had quite a busy weekend this week with one thing and another and feel like I have never stopped. We took the kids to Perth on Saturday - they love the swimming pool there. So Steven went in with the boys and his brother and niece and me n mum went for a wander round the town. Then when we got back, it was off to Hobbycraft to have a 'look' at some new Promarkers. And, of course, couldn't leave without buying any as that would be too rude of me, lol. I have to say I love the new blending sets - so easy to work with and this is the first image to be coloured with them.

Ingredients:
Image: Stroppy Beth by Saturated Canary;
Papers: Summer Breeze 6x6 pad (First Edition);
Ribbon and Buttons: Hobbycraft.
Challenges:
 The Secret Crafter: Anything Goes;
Simon Says: Anything Goes;
Crafts and Me: Add a Ribbon.
 I've had this image for ages and never coloured her before but I am really pleased with how she turned out. I might just have to go and get a different one now since they are such a joy to colour. And, of course, this one reminds me so much of my daughter - always in a strop over something. Teenagers, ehh!

On a sadder note, Manny didn't respond to his fluids and antibiotics very well and was also showing signs of stress.  So, we took him back to the vet on Sunday and decided that it was best if we let him be put to sleep. So, at least he is now free from pain.

Friday, 1 June 2012

Hello everyone. Nice to see the sunshine out again - always makes me a wee bit happier. And, I need it today, lol. I am very tired just now and was meant to be having an early night last night but...ended up at the vets with Steven's wee hamster, Manny. The poor wee thing has 'wet tail'. Not a very nice thing to have. The vet gave him some fluids and antibiotics  to see how he gets on but I'm not that sure it's going to work. He is quite lethargic and isn't eating and drinking. Apparently, if he doesn't eat then his gut will seize up and that will be it. Poor wee mite! Oh well, only time will tell.

Anyway, I know that it is very early for this kind of card but, I got the image in my win the other week and just had to use him.

Ingredients:
Medium: Spectrum Noir:
 Papers: NitWit Collections;
Sentiment: Cuddly Buddly Tickets;
Tools: Craft Knife for distressing edges; Cuttlebug and Star nesties.

Challenges:
Crafty Cardmakers: Distress It;
 ABC Christmas Challenge: Keep It Simple;
Fab N Funky: Celebrations;
 Simon Says: Anything Goes (2nd entry);
One Stop Craft: One for the Boys.

So, that's my first (and maybe the only) Christmas card made for this year. I am off to play with my new goodies - The Glitter Pot had some lovely half price stamps on their website - which of course, I just had to have, lo.

Daisy

Yuk! I hate the weather just now. Granted, it gives us plenty time to craft but it really puts me in an awful mood. I wish it could be sunny all the time. Anyways, this card is for my gran who hasn't been feeling very well recently - just to try and cheer her up a bit but...she will probably cry when she opens it - she's a bit melodramatic like that, lol.

Ingredients:

Image: Daisy by Sugar Nellie;
Medium: Promarkers;
Papers: Jenny's Creations by Craft Creations;
Doily: Ribbon Box;
White Flower: Prima;
Vellum Sentiment: K & Co;
Pink Flowers: Stash.

Challenges:
Papertake Weekly: Dawny P's Fab Sketch;
 Simon Says: Anything Goes;
Truly Scrumptious: Pretty in Pink.

Wee Steven and I were playing with the stamps the other night and I found Daisy and just had to colour her. I think Daisy is my most favourite stamp ever. I love to colour her.

A Gem of A Challenge

Hello everyone. We are having a public holiday in Edinburgh today and the weather has been lovely yesterday and today. Yesterday we went to the market and then to Dunbar to the harbour for a wee while. Today, we went off to Soutra Isle, which is a wee medieval hospital site. So, quite a nice weekend. Tomorrow, I have to find something else to amuse the kids as they still have one more day off school for an in-service day. Anyway, Steven went to sleep quite early tonight so I have had a chance to finish off my card.

I have also taken the sketch over to the inside of the card. These papers I have had for years and never touched them but today, I wanted to use them over and over, lol.

Ingredients:
Image: Cupcake Teddy by Pink Gem Designs;
Medium: Spectrum Noir;
Papers: Blonde Moments;

Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts;
Tools: Cuttlebug and Nesties;
Other: Pearls from Hobby House and Glamour Dust.

Get Well Soon

Hello everyone. Quick post today as I am off to colour some images while I have some quiet time. So, I made this one for my dad just to try and cheer him up a bit. I have had this image for well over a year now, could even be close to 2 and this is the first time I have used it. I have coloured it up lots of times but have never been happy with the colouring before until this time and even then it took about 4 attempts, lol.

Ingredients:
Image: LOTV;
Medium: Spectrum Noir;
Papers: DCWV Nana's Nursery Baby Boy;
Ribbon: Stash;
Sentiment: Pink Gem Dotty Font;
Tools: Cuttlebug and Nesties.

Challenges:
 Simon Says: Clean and Simple;
 Truly Scrumptious: Anything Goes;
Lollipop Crafts: Just for Him;
Totally Stampalicious: Clean and Simple;
Pile It On: Clean and Simple.

I was stuck for the sentiment for this one until I received my win from Pink Gem Designs. Fantastic service there.  I emailed which stamps I would like to Janet last night and I received them within about 5 minutes. Superb and the font came in really handy, lol.

What A Week!!!

What a week this has been. First Kim has her tonsills removed and then is not very well because of this over the weekend. Then, Jack goes to Poland on an exchange with the school and HATES it. He is so homesick it is making me sick. Then the hoover decides to stop working, not sure why - its not like its overworked or anything and it didn't even make it to it's first birthday!

And then, to put a really good end to things, my dad has tripped up at work and broken his wrist! If anything else happens i think I will scream!

However, all is not bad because I have been lucky enough to be picked as a winner over at CRAFT challenge from their birthday blog hop. I am delighted and get to choose either 3 single digi's or a digi set from Pink Gem Designs. So, that cheered me up a bit.

Now, I haven't made a card this week, what with one thing and another, i just haven't felt very motivated. But, when I got home last night form picking dads car up, Steven had been crafting with my mum and had made this fantastic card. i think he is absolutely amazing for just 5 years old but then I may be a bit biased, lol.

Hard to believe a 5 year old can colour in this well, isn't it? He says "Mum, will you stamp me an image and give me my promarkers, please?" Lol, HIS promarkers. Would love to know what you think of his card.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to be back soon with a card.

A Lonely Wee Scottish Boy

Hello everyone. Today I have a card to show you that my mum made. My son, Jack has gone to Poland on an exchange trip with his school and he was to take a small gift for the family to say thank you. I thought that a card would be nice to go with the gift and didn't have a chance to do one so...asked Mum.

I think she has done a fantastic job and he looks great. Thanks Mum.

Now, the reason for the title of the post and it's not wee Hamish here who is lonely - it's our Jack. Unfortunately, Jack has had quite a big shock as to the culture change and is finding it very hard. He is only 12 and he is hundreds of miles away living with a family he doesn't know and who  don't speak much english and he doesn't speak any polish. The family he is living with have been lovely and allowed him to phone home lots and he has been on facebook to speak to us but he is so upset and lonely. It is actually heartbreaking. I feel so helpless when all I want to do is give him a massive hug.  I did say I would fly over and get him but he is being very brave and trying to stick it out thankfully because it would be very difficult to get to where they are staying as there are no flights near there and by the time I got there it would be nearly time for him to come home.  He is out on a trip all day tomorrow and it will be nearly bedtime when he gets back and then he will only have one more night to go so, fingers crossed, he will be ok.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by. Hope you like Mum's card.

A Card At Last!

Good morning everyone. At last I have had some time to make a card. Yesterday afternoon, Kimberley went to her gran's to get some peace and quiet, Jack went to his friends to play the PS3 and then Steven went to his dad's so it was just ME, lol. So naturally, I took advantage of the peace and quiet and got stuck into the housework...NOT! Of course not, I enjoyed the peace and relaxed and made this card.

Ingredients:
Image: LOTV;
Medium: Spectrum Noir Pens;
Papers: Old ones from my stash;
Sentiment: Clear Stamp Set (lost its packaging);
Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts,
Tools: Cuttlebug and Nesties.

Challenges:
Papertake weekly: Cute, Cute, Cute;
CRAFT: Celebration;
Crafty Catz: Happy Birthday;
Lili's Little Fairies: Favourite Craft Tool;
Crafty Emma's: Anything Goes;

Now, I am off to play some more with using my pencils alongside my pens. Thanks for stopping by.

A Case for a Special Bear

Well, so much for coming back yesterday with a card, ehh. I have had a birthday cake to make for today and my son needed to go shopping for new clothes and a haircut before he goes off on an exchange trip to Poland on Monday with his school  and also my daughter was to go to hospital to have her tonsils removed yesterday. So, things have been pretty mad around here, lol.

I thought I would share a picture of the cake. i loved making this one - probably because I loved this wee bear when I was younger

Isn't he just a gorgeous wee bear? Does anybody remember Paddington Bear?

Aw. I wish I was young again. Right now I am finally sitting resting my aching feet after a very busy day. Kim is home from hospital but is staying with my mum tonight to try and get some peace and quiet. Wee Steven isn't the easiest child to be around at the best of times let alone when you have just had an operation, lol.

I will hopefully get some time to make a card tomorrow.

A Cake and a Prize

Morning everyone. i don't have a card today as I had a meeting this morning. I do have a cake though. This is the cake I made for my sister's birthday yesterday. It's also the first cake I have made using my new edible printer that I bought with my birthday money last month.  For some reason, she is besotted with this guy - oh well, each to their own, ehh, lol!

Hope you like it. And, even if I say so myself, it was gorgeous, lol. I actually didn't want to leave her with the extra - wanted to take it all home with me!!

I also had a lovely surprise this morning when I popped over to check out the new challenge for the week at Simon Says. I have been chosen as one of the lucky winners from their 3rd birthday bash last week and this fab kit is my prize. How lucky am I?!

So, now I am off to email Lorraine with my address details cos I am super excited to get my grubby paws on they fab goodies, lol. See you all tomorrow with a card hopefully.

A Different kind of Goal

I haven't got a card to share tonight so I thought I'd share my cake from the other day instead. The lady who ordered the cake opted for a rugby pitch in the end but at first couldn't decide between a rugby pitch or a Hibs football one for her son. So, I made the rugby one she wanted and added some extra green and white to incorporate Hibs a wee bit.

Today, mum and I took the boys to Heads of Ayr Farm Park. It took us roughly 2 hours to get there and then 2 hours to get home again tonight but it was well worth it. A fantastic day was had by all of us, especially the boys, and the sun was shining too which is always a bonus. Here's a wee pic of them all.

Now, I am just waiting on my next cake baking then I am off to bed for a well deserved early (ish) night, lol.

It's A Goal

Hello everyone. This is the card I made for Wee Steven to give his school friend today and this is going to be a quick post because we have been so busy today and I can honestly say I am shattered. First Steven had to have a haircut then it was off to buy new trainers and football boots. Next, we went to his friends birthday party - 2 hours of 30 kids bouncing on a bouncy castle and running round screaming. Then, after tea we went to the park and to Lucas for ice cream so, I don't know about the wee man but I will definitely sleep tonight, lol.
Anyway, here's the card. It does have a wee pocket inside to put some money or a gift card in but I forgot to take a photo of it.

Ingredients:
Image: LOTV;
Medium: Spectrum Noir Pens;
Papers: Docrafts;
Sentiment: Studio G Clear Stamps;
Tools: Spellbinders Die Cuts and Cuttlebug;
